Before his retirement, Irv focused his practice in the areas of complex commercial and environmental litigation. In the environmental area, he has substantial experience representing potentially responsible parties in litigation and administrative actions initiated by the US EPA, state governmental authorities, and private parties brought under CERCLA, RCRA, and state environmental statutes. Irv was routinely retained as common or group counsel on behalf of defendants and respondents.
Irv graduated from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was an editor of the Georgetown University Law Journal. Irv received his B.A. from the University of Cincinnati with high honors.
For more than 25 years, Irv served as a court certified mediator in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Before retirement, he was admitted to practice in state and federal courts in New York and New Jersey, and several United States Circuit Courts of Appeals.
Irv is a past chair of the Professional Responsibility Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association; a past Litigation Section Co-Chair, CERCLA litigation subcommittee, of the American Bar Association; and Member of the District Ethics Committee Section V of the American Bar Association. Irv has received an AV® Preeminent Rating, Judicial Edition, by Martindale-Hubbell; is listed in Best Lawyers®; Litigation, has been recognized by SuperLawyers in the area of Environmental Litigation; and is listed in Chambers USA Guide to America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, Environment.
